Vancouver, BC (September 3, 2009) – Steph Song will be making a special guest appearance the 2nd Annual Vancouver Singapore Film Festival (VSFF).
The Vancouver-based actress, voted “Sexiest Woman in the World” in 2006 by FHM (Singapore edition), is well-known in both Singapore and Vancouver. The Malaysian-born beauty established herself early on in her career in Singapore, with a lead role in the second season of the TV series Heartlanders, and Singapore Short Story Project, which achieved best Drama Series at the Asian Television Awards in 2004. She also worked on two productions with Jean Yeo (whose film The Leap Years will be featured at this year’s film festival), including made-for-TV film Chase and TV series Perceptions.
Song continued on with a successful career in Vancouver, with roles in CBC miniseries Dragon Boys, as well as Douglas Coupland’s TV series jPod and Everything’s Gone Green. She recently starred in feature film Dim Sum Funeral with Russell Wong and Bai Ling. Song has been nominated for multiple awards at world festivals and award shows, including the prestigious New York International Television Festival, Genie Awards, Gemini Awards, LEO Awards and Asian Television Awards. She is currently filming on the set of Smallville, which she will be guest-starring in a series of episodes.
Not only does Ms. Song have fond memories of working with Yeo, she also says that Singapore is a country that is near and dear to her heart.
Song will be a Special Guest in the co-presentation of the film The Leap Years by Jean Yeo on September 6th. With a very solid profile and fan base from her years spent working in Singapore, festival organizers are confident that Song’s appearance will be an event highlight and a sure crowd-pleaser.
